Foster and Grand Carer Gold Card

Foster carers, family carers and grandcarers do vital work in our community. The WA Government's new Foster and Grand Carer Gold Card gives eligible carers a range of discounts, credits and benefits through the ServiceWA app.

Working out what you are entitled to and how to claim it isn't always easy. My office is here to help you find out what's available and make sure you and the children in your care don't miss out.

If you are a carer in our community, I'd encourage you to check whether you are eligible and register when the card becomes available. If you need a hand, my office is always happy to help.

What the Gold Card offers

  • A range of discounts, credits and benefits for eligible carers
  • Accessed through the ServiceWA app, so there is nothing extra to carry
  • Available to foster carers, family carers, grandcarers and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) carers
  • New foster and family carers are covered for the first 26 weeks of their registration

Who is eligible

  • Existing foster and family carers (including community and pre-adoptive carers) and SGO carers who have provided care for a child for a total of 14 nights between 1 January and 30 June 2026
  • Carers registered either with the Department of Communities or with an out-of-home care provider, including an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO)
  • All new foster and family carers, for the first 26 weeks of registration. During this transition, anyone approved as a carer between 1 January and 30 June 2026 is eligible regardless of the number of nights of care provided
  • Grandcarers who receive the Grandcarers Support Scheme (GSS) payment and are the full-time primary carer for a grandchild

How to apply

Eligible carers register through the ServiceWA app from 1 July 2026. You will need a Digital ID set up in the app. Once that is done, you can register for the card and start using your benefits.
